DYNATECH COMMUNICATIONS PROVIDES EAS -- AN ENTERPRISE ACCESS SYSTEM FOR LAN/WAN ANALYSIS

WOODBRIDGE, Va., Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Dynatech Communications will demonstrate at the InterOp Show in San Francisco (Aug. 25-27, Booth No. 3117), the Enterprise Access System (EAS) for LAN/WAN analysis. The demonstrations will include interfacing to WANs at T1/E1 speeds, and to 10 Mbps ethernet LANs.
General manager of the Network Business Unit, Rob Welton, said, "The EAS is a powerful new tool to help you enhance network availability and service levels. EAS provides an alarm platform for circuit performance measurement, monitor access for non-intrusive monitoring, test access for interactive data analysis, port switching for cable management and testing. Remote test access allows problem identification from a central site reducing travel costs."
David Korrie, manager of business development, indicated that: "We have designed EAS as a remote control platform for distributed alarm, monitor, test and patch activities. This is especially efficient and cost effective for remote, unmanned `dark' sites. Instead of dispatching technicians to remote sites to run protocol analysis on network problems, network managers can now save time and money by performing diagnostics from a central control site. They can even bring a spare line or device on line to restore service immediately -- all without leaving their office! Coupled with our powerful DN190 control system software, which runs under Microsoft Windows, the EAS becomes a very valuable tool for maintaining maximum network uptime."
An entry level EAS configuration with 16 ports starts at under $10,000. Options include interfaces for ethernet, token ring, RS232, V.35, X.25, RS530, RS449, T1 and E1. A/B switching is now also available with EAS.
