DYNATECH COMMUNICATIONS PROVIDES CPX FASTBANK: A CIRCUIT/FRAME SWITCH THAT SUPPORTS X.25 OVER FRAME RELAY TO REDUCE COSTS

WOODBRIDGE, Va., Aug. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Dynatech Communications will demonstrate at the InterOp Show in San Francisco (Aug. 25-27 at Booth No. 3117), the CPS FastBank which integrates circuit and frame switching technologies. CPS FastBank allows up to 24-user ports on a circuit switched network to have access to a low delay, single high- speed Frame Relay port, providing the benefits of dynamic bandwidth allocation.
General Manager of Worldwide Packet Switching, Ed Bursk, said: "CPX FastBank provides unmatched flexibility in network integration to save significant money on the recurring costs for wide area network circuits. Additionally, CPS FastBank eliminates the need for separate channel banks and CSU/DSUs thereby saving on equipment, sparing, and training costs while simplifying network management."
John Merryman, manager of business development, indicated that: "With the CPX FastBank, network bandwidth is allocated by defining DS-O time slots or channels, or FT1 channels which then appear as any other physical X.25 or Frame Relay port in a traditional switch. X.25 or Frame Relay virtual connections are then routed into the appropriate time slots. CPS FastBank encapsulates X.25 for transport over low delay, high-speed Frame Relay services, thereby allowing existing X.25 networks to take advantage of Frame Relay's low costs."
A CPX FastBank configuration with one (1) T1/E1 and two (2) 64 Kbps V.35 ports starts at $15,500. Options include a DC power supply, integral DSU/CSU, and additional ports. Planned enhancements for CPX FastBank include E1, G.703, and ISDN support for the international marketplace.
