DWSD ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY 24-HOUR CUSTOMER EMERGENCY NUMBER

DETROIT, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Since early this morning, the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department's Central Services Facility has experienced a complete telephone failure. As a result, the department's 24-hour emergency number, 313-267-7401, is out of service until further notice. The number is used to report broken water mains, no water or low water pressure problems, flooded streets and basements, missing manhole covers, and other emergencies.
Michigan Bell is working at this time to restore phone service to the facility. In the meantime, customers should call 313-224-4775 or 313-935-4402 to report water-related emergencies.
It is not known how long before repairs are completed, although the approximate repair time has been estimated at 24 to 36 hours. Customers will be notified when the facility's telephone service is back in order.
