DWG CORPORATION'S SEPSCO UNIT COMPLETES SALE OF TREE MAINTENANCE BUSINESS

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Oct. 18 /^PRNewswire/ -- DWG Corporation's (AMEX: DWG) Southeastern Public Service Company unit announced today it had completed the previously-announced sale of its tree maintenance business to Asplundh Tree Experts, Inc. for $70 million in cash and the assumption of $5 million in current liabilities.
The sale is the third in a series of transactions authorized by the DWG board to dispose of or discontinue all of SEPSCO's operating businesses and assets other than the LP gas business. These sales are part of DWG's strategic plan to sell extraneous assets and focus on its core businesses. SEPSCO is a 71 percent-owned subsidiary of DWG.
DWG, a diversified company with sales in excess of $1 billion, is primarily involved in fast food (Arby's), soft drinks (Royal Crown Cola), textiles (Graniteville), and liquified petroleum gas (National Propane). On Oct. 27, shareholders will be asked to approve a name change of the company to Triarc Companies, Inc.
Asplundh, of Willow Grove, Pa., is the leading provider of utility tree trimming services in the United States.
