DURAKON INDUSTRIES NAMES FISHER AS CHAIRMAN

 LAPEER, Mich., March 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Durakon Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: DRKN), at its meeting on March 23, elected Phillip Wm. Fisher as chairman. Thomas A. Galas, vice president - finance & administration and chief financial officer, was named corporate secretary. William Webster, president of Durakon, remains chief executive officer.
 Fisher, a resident of Orchard Lake, Mich., has been active in the Fisher Group, founded by his father, industrialist and philanthropist Max Fisher, since 1973. Mr. Fisher and the Fisher Group manage a myriad of family investments in operating companies, real estate and securities and are major shareholders in various local and national companies including Durakon. Mr. Fisher is on the board of the Jewish Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit and Detroit Country Day School.
 Galas joined Durakon in 1991. Previously, he served as vice president - finance and chief financial officer for a U.S. group of companies owned by Williams Holdings PLC, a $1.5 billion United Kingdom based holding {company, and held several financial management positions with Great Northern Nekoosa Corporation. He is a graduate with a B.S. degree in accounting from Villanova University and a certified public accountant.
 Durakon is the world's leading producer and distributor of pickup truck bedliners and rollback car carriers, a major manufacturer of wheel lift towing vehicles and a leading distributor of light truck accessories. Headquartered in Lapeer, it has manufacturing facilities in Lapeer and Greencastle, Pa. A publicly traded company, it is listed on the NASDAQ National Market System.
