DURAKON INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCES CAPITAL PROGRAM FOR JERR-DAN

 LAPEER, Mich., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Durakon Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: DRKN) today announced a $2.3 million capital program for Jerr-Dan Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary.
 Jerr-Dan is the leading supplier of rollback car carriers and a major manufacturer of wheel lift tow trucks. Both of these products are sold through distributors serving the vehicle retriever industry.
 The capital program is targeted to upgrade Jerr-Dan's manufacturing processes, physical plant and customer service activities, and provide facilities for product and process research and development activities at its Greencastle, Pa. facility. Manufacturing capacity will be increased over 25 percent, principally to expand the wheel lift product line.
 Jerr-Dan's President, Jim Kelly, commented that, "The capital improvements involve new state-of-the-art machinery and equipment, major upgrades in the paint shop and a new building to house the parts operation and customer service. The spending program will reduce operating costs, improve working conditions and support our commitment to provide our distributors and end users the highest level of product quality and service, before and after the sale."
