DUQUESNE LIGHT RECOMMENDS PROMPT ACTION FOR HELP WITH ELECTRIC BILLS

PITTSBURGH, Nov. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Duquesne Light Company is encouraging customers in Allegheny and Beaver counties who will need help in meeting winter electricity bills to be sure to apply early for Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funds.
Because the federal government has significantly reduced LIHEAP funding compared to previous years, there will be fewer dollars available this year for a shorter time than in the past.
Customers who meet federal income guidelines and act early will have a better chance of receiving assistance. The assistance money is credited directly to the customer's account, and does not have to be repaid.
Applications for these LIHEAP 1 grants open on Dec. 6, 1993, and close on Jan. 13, 1994. Income eligibility guidelines range from a maximum monthly income of $784.08 for an individual to a maximum monthly income of $1,614.33 for a family of four.
Duquesne Light currently is providing more detailed application information to all customers via an insert with their monthly bills. Interested customers also may call Duquesne Light at 412-393-7200 for additional information.
