DUNNIGAN ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF THOMAS & BETTS BRIDGEWATER, N.J., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- T. Kevin Dunnigan,
president and chief executive officer of Thomas & Betts Corporation (NYSE: TNB), was elected to the additional post of chairman effective Jan. 1, 1992 at today's meeting of the board of directors. He will replace J. David Parkinson, chairman since 1975, who announced his retirement at the meeting. Parkinson will continue to serve as a director.
"Dave Parkinson has been a major contributor to the success of Thomas & Betts in every phase of his 38-year career. Sales were $9 million the year he started and were $599 million last year," Dunnigan said. "Although he indicated his plans about retirement some time ago, he still will be very much missed. We are pleased that he will continue to be involved with us as a member of the board." Parkinson was named president and chief executive officer in 1974, and chairman the following year. Dunnigan became president in 1980 and chief executive officer in 1985.
