DUKE CUSTOMERS SET ANOTHER RECORD FOR ELECTRICITY USE

 CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Duke Power (NYSE: DUK) customers have set a record for electricity use for the third consecutive day, reaching an all-time peak of 15,293 megawatts for the hour ending at 5 p.m. today.
 The previous Duke Power record of 15,136 megawatts was set on Tuesday.
 "Our customers' demand for electricity has increased daily," said William Sands, manager of energy control. "Duke Power has designed its system to accommodate extreme weather conditions and we are pleased to help keep our customers cool while this heat wave continues."
