DUKE CHARGED WITH SPEEDING.

THE Duke of Gloucester has been hit with a speeding charge by cops.

And the red-faced aristo faces further embarrassment if convicted - because he is the president of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM).

Cops claim that the Duke, 60, who is a cousin of the Queen, was caught breaking a 60mph limit in Cambridgeshire in August.

If found guilty and forced to hand in his licence, he will have to resign from his post as head of the IAM - a body which promotes safer driving by asking members to take advanced tests.

An IAM spokeswoman said: 'Our general position is that that there is no excuse for exceeding the speed limit.'

Buckingham Palace refused to comment.
