DU PONT RESEARCH TECHNICIAN GETS AWARD FROM AMERICAN CHEMICAL SOCIETY
SAN FRANCISCO, April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Chemical Society (ACS) today conferred its National Technician of the Year Award on a 24- year Du Pont (NYSE: DD) research technician, Carlos Vazquez.
Vazquez, 47, who is employed in materials science research at Du Pont's Experimental Station near Wilmington, Del., was honored at a special banquet held in his honor during the society's national meeting in San Francisco.
Vazquez is the first Du Pont technician to receive the award. Last November he received the Outstanding Technician Award from the Delaware Section of the ACS.
Vazquez, of Newark, Del., works in materials science on the molecular magnets program within Du Pont Central Research and Development. Among his recent accomplishments was development of a synthetic route for preparation of cyanil (1,4-tetracyanobenzoquinone), its hydroquinone and anions. Du Pont said it is filing for five separate patents on this discovery.
