DU PONT NAMED NATIONAL MENTAL HEALTH EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR
WILMINGTON, Del., May 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Du Pont (NYSE: DD) has been named National Mental Health Employer of the Year by the National Mental Health Association (NMHA), the oldest and largest mental health advocacy organization in the United States.
The award honors an employer's efforts to provide job opportunities and a healthy work climate for employees who have recovered from mental or emotional disorders.
Du Pont was chosen for its employment, accommodation, advancement practices, leave of absence policies, and Employee Assistance Program for people who have, or recover from, mental or emotional disorders.
Du Pont also has committed to help the American Bar Association and the NMHA educate employers about the Americans with Disabilities Act, landmark legislation that prohibits discrimination against the mentally and physically disabled.
During the past 35 years, Du Pont has conducted periodic surveys and found the job performance, attendance and safety of its employees with disabilities to rank equal or above their co-workers without disabilities.
In 1990, Du Pont was chosen as the National Employer of the Year for People with Disabilities by the President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities.
