 DU PONT ISSUES 'BENLATE' UPDATE
WILMINGTON, Del., June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Du Pont (NYSE: DD) today

announced it expects 90 percent or more of the claims relating to recall of the company's "Benlate" DF fungicide to be settled or denied by the end of the second quarter.
William F. Kirk, vice president and general manager - Du Pont Agricultural Products, said some of the denied claims are in litigation.
He said the company anticipates taking an additional charge against earnings in the second quarter, perhaps in the range of 15 to 20 cents per share, although the precise amount cannot be finalized until the end of the quarter.
Last year the company took a charge of 32 cents per share for claims arising out of the "Benlate" recall.
