DU PONT CONNECTOR SYSTEMS SALE COMPLETED

 WILMINGTON, Del., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Du Pont (NYSE: DD) today announced that Hicks, Muse & Co. Incorporated, a private investment firm, has completed its previously announced acquisition of the Connector Systems business of Du Pont for about $370 million, including $40 million of preferred stock in the company.
 The acquired entity will be known as Berg Electronics, Inc. -- the name under which the unit operated before its acquisition by Du Pont in 1972 -- and will again be based in Harrisburg, Pa.
 Investing in the transaction along with Hicks Muse is Mills & Partners, Inc., of St. Louis, a firm that specializes in the acquisition and enhancement of industrial companies.
 Norris Tolson, chief operating officer of Berg, said: "Our employees and customers around the world are very excited about being part of the new Berg Electronics. That excitement is based on Berg's commitment to meet or exceed customer expectations and to succeed as a leading, broad-based connector and multisegment interconnection systems supplier."
 Jim Mills, who has been named chairman of Berg CS Holdings, the holding company for Berg Electronics, and who is also founder and chairman of Mills & Partners, said: "Berg is already an established player with a strong position in its marketplace.  Berg's regional management team includes: Barry Brigman, regional vice president, Americas; Ron Hull, regional vice president, Europe; and Chuck Lee, regional vice president, Asia Pacific.
