 DU PONT ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES
 WILMINGTON, Del., Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Du Pont's (NYSE: DD) board


of directors has elected John A. Krol a director, a vice chairman of the board and a member of the Finance committee, effective March 31.
 Krol, currently senior vice president-Du Pont fibers, will also become a member of the Office of the Chairman.
 Du Pont also announced that Elwood P. Blanchard Jr., a vice chairman of the board and a member of the Finance committee and Office of the Chairman, has elected to retire March 31 after more than 32 years of distinguished service. He will continue as a Du Pont director and as chairman of the board of Du Pont Canada.
 Jerald A. Blumberg, senior vice president-Du Pont human resources and Du Pont corporate plans and a member of the Office of the Chairman, will replace Krol as senior vice president-Du Pont fibers.
 D. John Ogren, president and chief executive officer of Du Pont Canada, will replace Blumberg as senior vice president-Du Pont human resources and Du Pont corporate plans and as a member of the Office of the Chairman.
 The board of directors of Du Pont Canada has elected Arthur R. Sawchuk, senior vice president, Du Pont Canada, to replace Ogren as president and chief executive officer. Ogren will remain on the board of Du Pont Canada.
 "Doc Blanchard has provided strong direction for Du Pont's agricultural products, automotive products, chemicals, fibers and polymers businesses," said Du Pont Chairman Edgar S. Woolard Jr. "He has been a leader in the worldwide chemical industry during a period of rapid change and unprecedented challenges. He played a pivotal role in redirecting our CFC business in response to changing scientific data and has been a key leader in the Chemical Manufacturers Association's 'Responsible Care' program.
 "We will miss Doc's technical knowledge, his straightforward manner and his unfailing common sense. I am delighted that he will remain on the board of directors of both Du Pont and Du Pont Canada."
 Woolard added that, "In assuming Doc's responsibilities, Jack will concentrate on leading his portfolio of businesses to their full worldwide growth potential."
 Krol, 55, joined Du Pont in 1963 and held various research, marketing and manufacturing assignments in Du Pont fibers, where he advanced to director of the spunbonded and, later, carpet fibers and fiberfill units. He became a vice president in Du Pont fibers in 1983 and a vice president, and subsequently group vice president, in Du Pont agricultural products in 1986. Krol returned to Du Pont fibers as senior vice president in late 1990.
 Blanchard, 60, joined Du Pont's research staff in 1959. He held research and development, marketing and manufacturing assignments in the film department before heading the company's dyes and chemicals division in organic chemicals. He became general manager of chemicals and pigments in 1978 and was named group vice president-chemicals and pigments in 1983. He assumed his present position in 1988.
 Blumberg, 51, joined Du Pont in 1960 as an engineer and held various engineering, technical, production, sales, marketing and business management positions before being named director of the white pigments and mineral products division in 1983. He became president of Du Pont Japan Ltd. in 1985, vice president of Du Pont Asia Pacific in 1987 and senior vice president-employee relations in 1990, assuming his present position later that year.
 Ogren, 48, joined Conoco, Du Pont's petroleum subsidiary, in 1965. He held a series of technical, operational and corporate assignments in the United States and the United Kingdom and in 1986 became a vice president of Conoco and chairman of Conoco (U.K.) Limited, where he was responsible for exploration, production and corporate services. Ogren was named senior vice president, administration, for Conoco in 1988 and president of Du Pont Canada in mid-1991.
