DRUG squad gardai seized EUR500,000 of cocaine in a dawn raid on a drug factory.
They moved in on a house in the Commons Road area of Cork city yesterday following several weeks of surveillance.
As well as 7kg of cocaine, a substantial quantity of cash, 12kg of mixing agent and drug paraphernalia were seized.
Detectives believe vast quantities of the drug were being processed.
They also took away compressors, heavy-duty mixing equipment, a vacuum packer, weighing scales, knives, tinfoil and medical gloves.
A 25-year-old man was arrested and detained at Gurranabraher Garda station where he can be held for up to seven days.
In a follow-up operation detectives from the Cork Divisional Drugs Unit raided another property on the city's northside and found a substantial sum of money.
In March a similar operation was uncovered on Cork's Pope's Quay.
