DRUG SUPPLIES FOUND IN PALMDALE CAR, HOME.

Byline: Bhavna Mistry Daily News Staff Writer

A Palmdale man and his girlfriend were arrested after authorities found more than 5,000 blank credit cards, a laptop computer and a multitude of drugs and drug manufacturing supplies and equipment.

Alfredo Vidrio, 26, and Sheenan Schultz, 20, both of Palmdale, were arrested last week after California Highway Patrol officers stopped Vidrio's car near Merced and found drugs and items used in drug manufacturing, then found more in a search of the couple's home in the 1800 block of Dahlia Court, officials said Wednesday.

``We don't know how long they've been up and running,'' said Los Angeles County sheriff's Sgt. Tony Hollins, who heads the North County Methamphetamine Lab Task Force. ``We're still investigating.''

Deputies from the North County Lab Task Force were led to the Palmdale home after CHP officers stopped Vidrio's car traveling north in the Merced area.

Officials said they found in Vidrio's vehicle 2,000 bottles of Sudafed, a cold medicine from which a component for manufacturing methamphetamine is derived; four pounds of red phosphorus, another methamphetamine component; two pounds of methamphetamine; half a pound of cocaine; and an ounce of tar heroin.

Following the search of the car, which was registered to Vidrio in Palmdale, deputies searched his Palmdale home and arrested his girlfriend, who was there baby-sitting Vidrio's nephew.

Inside the home, deputies said, they found 98 pounds of red phosphorus, one pound of cocaine, a laptop computer and 5,000 to 8,000 blank credit cards.

``The laptop was capable of printing credit cards, including inscripting magnetic strips on the back,'' said Hollins. ``Something was going to happen somewhere.''

Officials said they are searching the laptop's hard drive.

Vidrio was being held on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, of possession of cocaine and of possession of heroin.

Schultz was being held on suspicion of possession of cocaine, of possession of credit cards with the intent to manufacture and of child endangerment.
