 DRUG EMPORIUM NAMES POHLIT CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
 COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Stephen R. Pohlit, 42, has


been selected executive vice president and chief financial officer for Drug Emporium, Inc. (NASDAQ: DEMP), the national deep-discount drugstore chain headquartered here.
 Gary Wilber, Drug Emporium chief executive officer, said, "As a result of a four-month search, Steve was our first choice and we are particularly pleased that he has joined us. He brings exceptionally strong financial experience and now has responsibility for all of our financial activities."
 Pohlit comes to Drug Emporium from Safelite Glass Corp. where he served since April, 1989, as senior vice president and chief financial officer. His duties there included finance, legal, management information systems, security and insurance.
 Previously, he spent 10 years with Arthur Andersen & Co. where he became head of retail practice in Columbus including engagement manager for The Limited. Prior to that he was on the corporate audit staff at Mead Corporation and held accounting and audit positions with Columbia Gas, W.A. Butler Co. and Pennsylvania Electric Co.
 A native of Pennsylvania, Pohlit earned a degree in accounting at Clarion State University and a masters of Business Administration at Xavier University. He has been a certified public accountant since 1976.
 At Drug Emporium, he will report to Wilber who heads the chain which currently has 216 company-owned and franchised stores specializing in brand-name health and beauty aids, cosmetics and prescription drugs.
