DRIVERS STILL NEEDED FOR 1992 MICHELIN-BUICK GRAND TOUR
DETROIT, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Attention all road rally fans. You

still have time to enter the 1992 Michelin-Buick Grand Tour for Children, a fund-raiser for Michigan's underprivileged children.
Sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America, this annual event starts in downtown Detroit at the General Motors Building at 11:30 a.m. on May 15 and then traverses 800 miles of beautiful Michigan roads, crossing the finish line on Sunday, May 17, about 4:30 p.m. at the Novi Hilton.
The motor sports rally involves time speed distance sections requiring the contestants to navigate and time an unknown route; autocross competitions; "poker runs"; and visits to children's homes throughout the state. The total prize fund exceeds $6,000.
Proceeds will benefit the Michigan Association of Children's Alliances (MACA), a child welfare training organization that benefits agencies like the Judson Center, YWCA and the Child Welfare Division of the Department of Social Services. Over $62,000 was raised by the 1991 Grand Tour rally allowing MACA to augment its efforts to provide quality training to child care workers and participate in important research and advocacy efforts on behalf of children.
Now in its seventh year, the event is sponsored by Michelin Automotive Industry Division and Buick Motor Division.
The registration fee is $495 and includes meals throughout the weekend. Entries are still being accepted -- call MACA at 517-485-0840. Inquiries are also welcome.
