DRAKE JOINS WITH COMPUTER INDUSTRY LEADERS TO LAUNCH A+ CERTIFICATION

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Drake Training & Technologies (Drake) joins with abcd: The Microcomputer Industry Association and 30 leading computer industry companies in announcing the A+ Certification program. The program represents the first vendor- independent, industry-wide certification program for service professionals in the computer industry.
Over the past year, Drake testing experts worked with service managers, technicians, and trainers to develop a valid and relevant examination that thoroughly tests the baseline competency of service technicians. The beta test for this examination, which was completed earlier this month, confirms that the A+ exam is tough, yet fair.
Leading computer industry companies representing all segments of the industry invested over $500,000 to develop and launch the program. Many of these companies will be leveraging this investment by making A+ certification a requirement for their internal service technicians. Others will require that all authorized service providers have certified technicians in order to process warranty claims.
The 1.5 hour exam will be delivered through Drake's network of over 250 authorized testing centers located in the United States and Canada. Candidates call 800-77MICRO to register and select a testing location. abcd is evaluating the feasibility of expanding the program internationally in cooperation with AFSM International, a prominent association of service managers. Drake can easily support this expansion through its service centers located in London; Dusseldorf, Germany; and Sydney, Australia.
Drake Training & Technologies is the global leader in computerized certification testing, operating a network of testing centers located in major markets throughout the world. Drake administers exams for computer industry manufacturers, professional associations and government agencies.
