DR. WALLY RHINES NAMED PRESIDENT AND CEO OF MENTOR GRAPHICS

 DALLAS, Oct. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Wally Rhines, Texas Instruments Incorporated (NYSE: TXN) (TI) vice president and executive vice president of TI's Semiconductor Group, has accepted the position of president and chief executive officer of Mentor Graphics Corporation, an electronic design automation company that produces software used to design semiconductors, printed circuit boards and computer systems.
 At TI, Dr. Rhines shared responsibility for TI's semiconductor businesses with Pat Weber, TI executive vice president and president of the Components Sector. These businesses will continue to report directly to Mr. Weber.
 Mr. Weber said: "Wally has made important contributions to TI, especially as part of the team that has transitioned TI's semiconductor business to differentiated products. We are pleased for him that he has been offered the opportunity to lead Mentor Graphics as its president and chief executive officer."
 Dr. Rhines joined TI in 1972 and held a variety of technical and business management positions in the Semiconductor Group, Central Research Laboratories and Data Systems Group.
