DR. THOMAS LARSON, P.E., ELECTED TO BAKER'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 HOUSTON, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Thomas D. Larson, P.E., former administrator of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), was elected to the board of directors of Michael Baker Corporation (AMEX: BKR), at the company's annual meeting in Houston today.
 Larson, 64, replaces James W. Wilcock, who retired after serving as a board member since 1982. Larson, who served as administrator of the FHWA for four years during the Bush administration, is a private consultant.
 Prior to holding the FHWA post, Larson served as secretary of transportation for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation for eight years. Previously, he served as a professor and administrator at the Pennsylvania State University.
 In other business at the company's annual meeting, stockholders voted to increase the authorized number of shares of common capital stock from 10 million shares to 50 million shares; the authorized number of shares of common stock from 8.5 million shares to 44 million shares; and the authorized number of shares of Series B common stock from 1.5 million shares to 6 million shares.
 Michael Baker Corp. subsidiaries provide engineering, construction and operations and maintenance services worldwide.
