DR. GERALD PAUL NAMED PRESIDENT OF VISHAY ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS, EUROPE

 MALVERN, Pa., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Felix Zandman, chairman and chief executive officer of Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH), today announced the promotion of Dr. Gerald Paul to the newly created position of president, Vishay Electronic Components, Europe (VEC, Europe).
 In making the announcement, Zandman stated: "Dr. Gerald Paul has a strong record of business acumen and leadership qualities which have contributed to his accomplishments as managing director of Vishay business units, Draloric Electronic GmbH, headquartered in Selb, Germany, and Roederstein GmbH, headquartered in Landshut, Germany. In his new position as president of Vishay Electronic Components, Europe (VEC, Europe), he will be responsible for all European passive electronic component operations including Draloric, Roederstein and Sfernice S.A., headquartered in Nice, France."
 Paul, a physicist who graduated from Munich University, joined Draloric in 1978 and has held several management positions in engineering, manufacturing and operations of Draloric divisions including the position of deputy managing director. He was promoted to managing director of Draloric in 1991 and managing director of Roederstein in January 1993. He was elected a member of the board of directors of Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. in May 1993.
 In his new position, Paul will continue to report to Zandman and remain based in Selb.
 Commenting further on Paul's promotion, Zandman stated: "This move will further consolidate our activities in Europe and allow for clearer focus and better coordination among our European business units. This should result in improved efficiency and profitability in our European operations in 1994 and thereafter."
