DOWNTOWN SEATTLE REVS UP FOR MAYFLOWER PARK HOTEL EMERALD CITY CLASSIC MOTORCAR RALLY; CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL TO BENEFIT

SEATTLE, May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Downtown Seattle will wake up early Saturday morning, May 29, to the purring engines and stunning display of over 30 classic motorcars parked on 4th Avenue between Pine and Olive, the Mayflower Park Hotel said today. The street is being blocked off for the Emerald City Classic Motorcar Rally sponsored by the Mayflower Park Hotel. These classics will be lining up for viewing at 6:30 a.m. in preparation for the 7:30 a.m. official start. The cars will proceed to the Fauntleroy ferry for a two-day, 250-mile trek around the Olympic Peninsula, which ends at Port Ludlow. The Washington State Ferry System is providing special assistance for this priceless cargo on the ferry departing at 8:20 a.m. Many of the cars are valued at over $100,000 each.
"We are very excited to sponsor this first-time event," said Marie Dempcy, vice president and co-owner of the Mayflower Park Hotel and board member of the Downtown Seattle Association, "especially when we have the opportunity to benefit the Children's Hospital and Medical Center. We are proud to join the Guild and the Vintage Rally Association in putting this event together."
The members of the Society of Vintage Racing Enthusiasts (SOVREN) Guild of Children's Hospital are collecting pledges to benefit Children's. Persons interested in pledging funds to a particular car can contact guild President Elna Duffield at 206-823-6081 or Marc Nowak, general manager of the Mayflower Park Hotel, 206-623-8700.
Built in 1927, the Mayflower Park Hotel is one of the last remaining locally owned and operated hotels from its era.
