DOWNTOWN HEALTH AND FITNESS CARNIVAL HELD AT BLUES

 DETROIT, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of National Employee Health and Fitness Week, May 17-21, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan is sponsoring an Employee Health and Fitness Carnival on Wednesday, May 19, at noon, in the courtyard of the insurer's downtown headquarters. All downtown employees are invited.
 The carnival will feature talks from health and fitness experts on diabetes, HIV, AIDS, blood pressure, women's health issues, family and personal safety, and more. Demonstrations on exercise equipment and taste tests of nutritious foods will also be featured.
 The carnival also includes two fitness walks:
 -- Detroit-area Walk Michigan Program Kick-off
 Walk Michigan, a statewide, annual fitness program sponsored by Michigan Recreation and Parks Association, the Blues and its subsidiary Blue Care Network, organized to promote good health through walking.
 -- Weight Watchers Walk Away Hunger Walk
 Walk Away Hunger is a program sponsored by Weight Watchers in celebration of its 30 years. Canned foods will be collected from walk participants to benefit the Hunger Action Coalition of Detroit.
 Mike Duggan, Deputy Wayne County executive, and several Wayne County employees; Florine Mark, president and CEO, Weight Watchers Group, Inc.; and Blues executives will participate in both walks.
