DOW DIRECTORS AND OFFICERS ELECTED AT ANNUAL MEETING

 MIDLAND, Mich., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Stockholders of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) voted in favor of the six candidates for election to the Dow Board of Directors at the 96th annual meeting of stockholders in Midland.
 Elected to serve three-year terms were Jacqueline K. Barton, David T. Buzzelli, Joseph L. Downey, Barbara Hackman Franklin, William J. Neely and Harold T. Shapiro.
 Continuing as directors are Bernard B. Butcher, Andrew J. Butler, Willie D. Davis, Michael L. Dow, Enrique C. Falla, Hunter W. Henry, Fred W. Lyons, Jr., Frank P. Popoff, Enrique J. Sosa, William S. Stavropoulos, Paul G. Stern and Joseph G. Temple, Jr.
 Following the annual meeting, the board convened and elected company officers. The officers elected were Frank P. Popoff, chairman and chief executive officer; William S. Stavropoulos, president and chief operating officer; Enrique C. Falla, executive vice president and chief financial officer; Andrew J. Butler, senior vice president; David T. Buzzelli, vice president, Environment, Health & Safety and Public Affairs; Anthony J. Carbone, group vice president; Fred P. Corson, vice president, Research and Development; Joseph L. Downey, senior vice president; Wayne M. Hancock, vice president and general counsel; Roger L. Kesseler, vice president and controller; Charles T. Marck, vice president; Michael D. Parker, group vice president; J. Pedro Reinhard, vice president and treasurer; Enrique J. Sosa, senior vice president; Larry F. Wright, vice president; and Donna J. Roberts, secretary.
 Assistant officers appointed by the board were Carol J. Ashley, assistant controller; William C. Schmidt, assistant controller; R. William Barker, assistant secretary; Paul D. Brink, assistant secretary; Henry Kahn, assistant treasurer; and James F. Hicks, auditor.
