DOW CORNING BOARD ELECTS HAZLETON CEO; McKENNON TO REMAIN CHAIRMAN

 MIDLAND, Mich., June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Dow Corning board of directors today elected Richard A. Hazleton, president of Dow Corning, to the additional position of chief executive officer, effective immediately.
 As previously announced, Keith R. McKennon will step aside as CEO, but continue as chairman of the board.
 McKennon, 59, Hazleton, 50, and Gary E. Anderson, 47, Dow Corning executive vice president, will continue to form the office of the chief executive, which is responsible for overall policy and direction of the company.
 "This is all part of the transition plan we've had in place since last December," McKennon said. "At that time, I said I expected to turn over the CEO job to Dick sometime during 1993. That time has now come."
 McKennon said he, Hazleton and Anderson have worked closely together during the past six months to ensure a smooth transition.
 "Dick Hazleton and Gary Anderson are experienced, active and committed executives who will provide strong leadership as our company heads into the 21st century," McKennon said.
 Dow Corning today also announced a number of changes on its board of directors.
 John S. "Jack" Ludington, chairman emeritus, has reached Dow Corning's mandatory retirement age of 65 for directors and retired today, ending 42 years of service to Dow Corning.
 The board also appointed two new directors to replace departing directors.
 Roger G. Ackerman, president and chief operating officer of Corning Inc., and Kenneth W. Freeman, senior vice president of Corning and president and CEO of Corning Asahi Video Products Co., will join the board. Ackerman also served on the Dow Corning board from 1987-91.
 Richard Dulude, retired vice chairman of Corning, and James G. Kaiser, president and CEO of Enesco, Inc., a Corning joint venture company, completed their board service today.
 These changes will bring the number of Dow Corning directors to 15.
 Dow Corning Corp., world leader in the production of silicones, is equally owned by The Dow Chemical Co. (NYSE: DOW), Midland, and Corning Inc. (NYSE: GLW), Corning, N.Y.

 Keith R. McKennon, Dow Corning Chairman and CEO
 Keith McKennon joined Dow Corning in February 1992 after a 35-year career with The Dow Chemical Co. McKennon, formerly executive vice president of The Dow Chemical Co., had served on the Dow Corning board of directors since 1987. He joined Dow in 1955 and held a variety of executive assignments in government and public affairs, global agricultural products, and legal and employee relations. In 1985, he was named Dow's director of research and development. McKennon was named president of Dow Chemical U.S.A. in 1987 and executive vice president of The Dow Chemical Co. in 1990.
 Richard A. Hazleton, Dow Corning President
 Since joining Dow Corning in 1965, Dick Hazleton has held a variety of key management assignments in manufacturing, engineering, finance and business management. In 1987, he was named corporate vice president for manufacturing and engineering. Two years later, he was named general manager of Dow Corning's fluids, resins and process industries business. Hazleton became president of Dow Corning Europe in 1991, a position he held until January 1993, when he was named president of Dow Corning.
 Gary E. Anderson, Dow Corning Executive Vice President
 Gary Anderson joined Dow Corning in 1967. After serving in a variety of manufacturing, process engineering and financial management assignments, Anderson was named vice president of Dow Corning Europe in 1980. From 1983-84, he took a leave of absence from Dow Corning to serve as acting deputy assistant secretary in the U.S. Department of Commerce. Anderson became a corporate vice president in 1986 and group vice president of businesses in 1989. He was named executive vice president in January 1993.
