 FIRST VICE PRESIDENT
 KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Douglas G. Fox, program manager, Interior West Global Change Program USDA-Forest Service, Fort Collins, Colo., has been elected to the office of first vice president of the Air & Waste Management Association.
 He will assume the position at the business breakfast held here during the association's 85th Annual Meeting and Exhibition at the Kansas City Convention Center.
 Dr. Fox was elected by a ballot vote of the association's members. He will automatically assume the presidency of the association in June 1993.
 Dr. Fox is a former member of the association's board of directors and a current member of the Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association's Editorial Review Board. An association member since 1978, Dr. Fox has served as a director of the board of the Rocky Mountain Section. He is a member of the Inter-Committee Task Force on Global Environmental Issues. He will be the technical program chairman for the association's 1993 Annual Meeting.
 At the USDA-Forest Service, Dr. Fox conducts and manages research on interactions of the natural environment and human activities. He manages the Forest Service portion of the U.S. Global Change Research Program in the interior Western United States. This program funds research by the Forest Service scientists and their university cooperators located throughout the 14-state region and coordinates natural resource management opportunities related to mitigating and adapting to effects of a changing physical and chemical climate.
 Dr. Fox earned his B.C.E. in civil engineering/engineering mechanics from The Cooper Union; his M.S./M.S.E. in water resources and applied maths and Ph.D. in civil and geological engineering from Princeton University.
 The Air & Waste Management Association is a non-profit, technical and educational organization with 13,000 members in more than 50 countries. Founded in 1907, the association provides a neutral forum where all sides of an environmental issue receive equal consideration.
