DONEGAL BOARD FINALLY HAVE SAY.

Byline: PAT NOLAN

THE Donegal County Board has issued a statement congratulating manager Jim McGuinness on his appointment at Celtic.

The statement, released yesterday, is rather belated coming three days after McGuinness' performance consultant role was confirmed though the county board did extend congratulations to him via its Twtter account on Friday as well as confirming that he would remain in charge of the senior team for 2013.

The board described McGuinness' appointment to the role with the Scottish champions as "heartening" given that he has emerged from an amateur sporting background.

The statement read: "We wish to congratulate senior football team manager Jim McGuinness (below with neil Lennon) on his appointment as performance analyst with Glasgow Celtic.

ama tha "It's heartening for us as an amateur sporting organisation that other professional codes are now keen to recruit our stars, and that they can learn from the professional way the GAA conducts its affairs. We can confirm that Jim will continue in his role as team manager."
