DONALD G.M. COXE NAMED PRESIDENT AND CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER OF HARRIS INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT INC.
CHICAGO, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Donald S. Hunt, president and chief operating officer of Harris Bankcorp, announced today the appointment of Donald G.M. Coxe, as president and chief investment officer of Harris Investment Management Inc., a subsidiary of Harris Bankcorp, effective Oct. 18. Coxe succeeds Jon S. Brightman, who will return to his position as department executive of Harris Trust and Savings Bank's Corporate and Institutional Trust Department. Harris Investment Management manages pension and other employee benefit assets, as well as endowment and mutual funds. Total assets managed currently exceed $11 billion. Coxe comes to Harris with 26 years' experience in the institutional investment business. For the past six years, he has been a strategist in New York, first with Wertheim Schroder and, most recently, with Harris-Nesbitt Thomson, a sister company in the Bank of Montreal family of companies in the United States. Previously, Coxe served for a decade as CEO of a leading institutional investment management organization. Throughout his career, he has consistently achieved top tier rankings as a market strategist. Coxe also has an extensive background in the pension industry. He led the development of a desk top computer-based pension fund actuarial and accounting system and has been a featured speaker at financial and actuarial conferences across North America. He has also served as an expert witness at the United States Senate Finance Committee. Coxe received his undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto and holds a law degree from Osgoode Hall. Following law school, he worked in New York as an associate editor of National Review. He has continued to contribute to that magazine and has moderated several "Firing Line" programs for the Public Broadcasting System. Coxe, who resides in Greenwich, Conn., with his wife and daughter, will be moving with his family to Chicago.
