 MALVERN, Pa., April 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Felix Zandman, chairman and chief executive officer of Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the promotion of Donald G. Alfson to president of Dale Electronics, Inc. and Vishay Electronic Components, U.S. (VEC, U.S.).
 In making the announcement, Zandman stated, "Mr. Alfson has a strong record of accomplishment with Dale and VEC, U.S. He brings the business acumen and leadership qualities needed for further growth, market penetration and profitability of Vishay."
 Alfson joined Dale Electronics in 1972. Over the next 18 years, he served in a variety of product management and senior management functions. In 1990 he was appointed to the position of executive vice president of Dale Electronics and the newly created position of chief operating officer of Vishay Electronic Components, U.S.
 In his new position, Alfson will continue to report to Zandman and remain based at Dale Electronics, headquartered in Columbus, Neb. He is responsible for all passive electronic component business in the United States and Far East, including Dale Electronics, Sprague and Vishay Resistive Systems.
 In addition, Alfson has been nominated for election to the board of directors of Vishay Intertechnology, Inc.
 Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. is a leading U.S. and European producer of a wide range of electronic resistors, resistive sensors, and tantalum capacitors. It is also a major producer of other types of passive electronic components. The company's products are used in a broad range of industries.
