 DON AMARAL NAMED CEO OF SUMMIT HEALTH
 BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Summit Health Ltd.


(NASDAQ: SUMH) today announced that the company's board of directors has appointed Donald J. Amaral as chief executive officer.
 Amaral joined Summit Health in October of 1989 as president and chief operating officer. Don Freeberg, founder and chairman of Summit Health, previously held the position of chief executive officer.
 "This appointment underscores the credit Don Amaral deserves for the turnaround and rapid growth of Summit Health," Freeberg said during the company's annual shareholder meeting at the Hilton Hotel in Burbank. "I turn the reins of chief executive over to Don with the full confidence that he will maintain the excellent financial and operating record the company has built under his leadership as president," Freeberg continued.
 Summit Health recently reported a 50 percent gain in net income to $2,462,000, or $0.08 per share, on revenues of $106.1 million for the company's first fiscal quarter ended September 30, 1991. Net income tripled to $7,185,000, or $0.23 per share, on revenues of $392.3 million for the fiscal year ended June 30, 1991.
 Prior to joining Summit Health, Amaral served for three years as president and chief executive officer of Mediplex Group Inc., an Avon Products subsidiary. He previously worked for a period of 10 years in senior financial management positions at the hospital group of National Medical Enterprises (NME). Amaral holds a master's degree in business administration from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA. He graduated from California State University-Hayward with an undergraduate degree in business administration.
 Summit Health Ltd. owns and manages hospitals, long term care and retirement centers, and medical service operations. The company has 12 acute care hospitals with 1,648 licensed beds, 17 skilled nursing care centers with 2,230 licensed beds, and four retirement centers with 468 licensed beds. Summit Health's 33 facilities are located in California, Arizona, Texas and Iowa.
