ALEX Salmond says he thinks Andrew would be a good name for the baby.

The First Minister says the name would be fitting, since the prince's parents met at St Andrews University.

But despite enjoying a flutter, Salmond says he wouldn't bet on the boy being named for Scotland's patron saint.

He told the BBC's Good Morning Scotland: "I just wonder if Andrew would be a good bet, just given that they met in St Andrews.

"But this is one race I most certainly won't be betting on.

"I just want, like everyone else, to wish the happy couple congratulations on the birth of their first child - and I think we should leave the naming to them actually."
