DOMINO'S PIZZA, INC. REORGANIZES: COMPANY AND FRANCHISE STORES
TO OPERATE INDEPENDENTLY UNDER TWO NEW VICE PRESIDENTS
ANN ARBOR, Mich., Aug. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Domino's Pizza, Inc. Chairman and CEO Thomas Monaghan today announced a corporate reorganization, effective immediately, that will create two independent management teams, one to oversee corporate-owned stores and another to guide franchisee-owned outlets. Each team will provide independent organizations to handle marketing, training, accounting and support services for their respective divisions.
Two current regional Domino's Pizza, Inc. vice presidents have been named vice president of corporate operations and vice president of franchise operations: Nickep Romyananda, a 19-year Domino's veteran, will oversee the corporate division, and Stuart Mathis, who has been with Domino's for seven years, will lead the franchise division. Both will be based in Ann Arbor and report directly to Monaghan.
"Our greatest challenge today is to compete more effectively in each Domino's Pizza market," said Monaghan. "To do that we must be able to provide our stores with the support they need to grow. By decentralizing our operations, we will foster the entrepreneurial spirit needed to be successful in the years ahead."
Romyananda began his career as a driver delivering pizzas in Columbus, Ohio. Only Mr. and Mrs. Monaghan have worked for the corporation longer. For the past nine years, he has served as a regional vice president, most recently working out of the Dallas office. Romyananda's leadership helped make the stores in his regions among the most successful in the company.
Romyananda, 38, emigrated from Thailand as a teenager with visions of becoming a doctor. However, he found a new calling while working for Domino's. In fact, his only employer since he arrived in the U.S. has been Domino's Pizza, Inc. He credits persistence and a never-say-die attitude for much of his success.
Mathis, 39, has more than 15 years' experience in food service and financial accounting. After joining Domino's new regional office in Baltimore in 1985 as its controller, he was instrumental in building business in four Domino's regions as a field vice president: Northeast, Baltimore, Dallas and Southern California.
Mathis has also served as vice president of field administration at Domino's world headquarters in Ann Arbor where his responsibilities included training, development, personnel, safety and security and communications. Before joining Domino's in 1985, Mathis served as controller for Six Flags Over Georgia, an Atlanta-based amusement park. He earned a B.B.A. from the University of Georgia and an M.B.A. from Georgia State University.
Monaghan also announced that Mike Raymond, Domino's vice president of marketing and consumer product research, has resigned. A successor will be named soon.
Domino's Pizza, Inc., headquartered in Ann Arbor, is the world's largest pizza delivery company, with 900 corporate and more than 4,600 franchise stores.
