DOLE FRESH VEGETABLES RECALLING COLESLAW MIX

 SALINAS, Calif., Nov. 14 ~PRNewswire~ -- Dole Fresh Vegetable s Company today began a voluntary recall in the United States and Canada of Dole Brand Coleslaw Mix after routine tests in Canada showed that three samples contained Listeria monocytogenes. The product is made of shredded green cabbage and carrots and comes in 10 oz., 1 lb., 3 lb., and 5 lb. bags.
 Dole Fresh Vegetables said that consumers who have this product in their homes should not eat it. They should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, or throw it away.
 Dole Fresh Vegetables is notifying supermarkets and distributors across the countries to immediately remove the coleslaw mix from their shelves and destroy it. The same product is distributed in the U.S. and Canada.
 Listeria is a common bacteria be found widely in the environment. It poses minimal risk to most healthy individuals. However, it can cause Listeriosis in


susceptible people, which includes pregnant women, elderly individuals, and people with compromised immune systems.
 Dole Fresh Vegetables is conducting a full investigation.
 The recall is being coordinated with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Health Protection Branch of Health and Welfare Canada.
