DOGS WILL HAVE THEIR DAY AT BARK AT THE PARK IN A.V.

Byline: Daily News

LANCASTER -- Dogs that look like their masters, dogs that catch flying discs and even dogs that sing will compete today in Lancaster's annual Bark at the Park.

A pet costume contest, hound and human interactive games, food, vendors and specialty dog acts are among the other activities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lancaster City Park, 43011 10 St. West.

Other activities include agility demonstrations, canine good citizen tests, a CaninEnstein test to measure a dog's IQ, and a trick contest.

Polite, leashed dogs with current vaccinations are welcome, organizers said. No retractable leashes will be allowed. Admission is free.

The event will also include splash dog demo in which dogs jump into a pool. For $10, owners can let their dogs practice their diving skills, too. The money will be refunded if the dog decides against taking a splash.

Also performing will be Kyra Sundance, whose Weimaraner Chalcy has appeared with Jay Leno on ``The Tonight Show.''

Proceeds will benefit Los Angeles County's Lancaster Animal Shelter. Last year's event raised $1,500.
