A COCKER spaniel called Fudge has become an Ice Bucket Challenge star - by escaping a soaking.

Six-year-old Fudge and his owner Jack Proctor have clocked up more than 370,000 hits online after bringing a new twist to the charity craze.

The video shows Jack preparing to pour a huge bucket of water over the top of Fudge's head.

But a hilarious turn of events sees Jack getting soaked instead.

It is all down to a camera trick which gives the illusion of the water being frozen in mid-air before it plunges over Jack's head.

"I have been nominated for the Ice Bucket Challenge," a grinning Jack tells the camera. "But Fudge here has decided to step up and do it for me."

He glances at Fudge before continuing: "I know it's a bit cruel but it's for charity."

Jack is then seen giving the thumbs-up before picking up the bucket of water and apparently trying to soak Fudge.

However his plans backfire when the water becomes frozen in midair and leaves him drenched instead.

Digital arts designer Jack, 33, from Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, said: "I'm completely overwhelmed with the response. I had no idea it would become so famous.

"I decided to get Fudge involved and give my pals a bit of a laugh by adding a surprise element."

Using the camera on his mobile phone, Jack filmed a series of video sequences which he manipulated with a computer application to overlap them and add motion effects. He filmed the scene where Fudge is spotted running away from the water separately from his own piece and used a special design effect to blank out his wife Julie pouring the water over him.

Jack said: "Fudge was actually in the video by himself.
