DOGGIE ASBONE; Too noisy' pooch set for a ban.

Byline: By JAMES HARPER

NOISY hound Storm could be the first dog in the country to be silenced by an ASBO.

The pesky pooch will be hit with a nuisance order if his constant barking breaks sound levels on a council's monitoring equipment.

But owner Judith Pattinson, 23, says the 17-month-old German Shepherd is a good guard dog.

She said: "He doesn't bark for no reason. He only barks at strangers coming up to the door. He's doing his job protecting the family." But neighbours in West Denton, Newcastle, said Storm's loud howling was making their lives a misery and complained to Newcastle City Council.

Neighbour Susan Logan, 50, said: "All it does is bark, I'm sick of hearing it. It does it for hours on end. It's way beyond a joke."

A spokeswoman for the council said: "If it is established there is a problem with noise, the owner will be given a nuisance notice. Neighbours have a right to peace and quiet."
