DOCTORS BACK CALL FOR VACCINE.

MERSEYSIDE doctors, nurses and scientists joined a nationwide call for the introduction of a meningitis vaccine.

Health professionals based across the region were among those who signed a letter to the secretary of state for health, Jeremy Hunt.

They are calling for the meningococcal B (MenB) vaccine to be introduced.

Among the 118 signatories are Dr Paul Baines, consultant at Alder Hey children''s hospital, Dr Nick Beeching, senior lecturer in infectious diseases and clinical director at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Dr Andrew Curran, a paediatric neurologist at Alder Hey.
