DOCTOR DEVIANT; Eight years for kinky GP in sex survey con.
A DOCTOR who indecently assaulted five men in his surgery was jailed for eight years yesterday.Dr Peter Green, 49, who claimed he had been carrying out a sex survey with his patients' consent, was told by a judge that he had abused his position of trust to "satisfy his perverted sexual wishes".
Green was convicted of nine indecent assaults on the five men over a 17-year period until 1996. He was cleared of nine other charges, including allegations that he encouraged couples to have sex in his surgery.
After the case, police revealed that Green had been investigated twice before, the first time 15 years ago.
Both times the Crown Prosecution Service decided there was not enough evidence to prosecute.
The jury at Nottingham Crown Court was told Green's victims were all patients at the Loughborough Medical Centre.
One 15-year-old who complained of a lump in his groin was told he had a low sperm count and was invited back with his girlfriend for further tests.
The boy was then strapped to a machine, which supposedly measured his hormone levels, while the couple were asked to kiss and cuddle to excite him.
One couple told how Green allegedly said they "could swing from the chandeliers" at his surgery.
Another man claimed he wrongly divorced his "cheating" wife when she became pregnant after Green had led him to believe he was sterile.
Two other victims were pupils at Loughborough Grammar School, while another was a student at the town's university.
Each was told he was infertile and indecently touched while being asked for a sperm sample.
Peter Joyce, prosecuting, said Green carried out the offences "for his own perverted and deviant ends". But father-of-five Green, of Oakham, Rutland, insisted he was a happily married man who had never considered homosexuality.
Boasting of "an adequate and satisfying sex-life", he portrayed himself as an ambitious researcher at odds with his conservative partners.
Last night Health Minister John Denham announced an investigation into the case.
