DOC'S 'WILD ANIMAL' WIFE TERRIFIED ME; Neighbours on trial.
A DOCTOR'S wife behaved like a "wild animal" as she tried to open her neighbour's car door, a court heard yesterday.
Housewife Rosaline Kinder said Michele McCallum came over to her car when she returned home to Edinburgh's upmarket Merchiston district.
Mrs Kinder, 48, said McCallum's GP husband John was also waiting for her.
Dr McCallum, 49, denies obstructing Mrs Kinder by standing behind her car as she tried to reverse Mrs McCallum, 49, denies acting in an intimidating manner towards Mrs Kinder by banging on the rear of her vehicle and opening the driver's door. The couple both deny being under the influence of alcohol and putting two children at risk by allowing them to climb scaffolding.
The offences were said to have happened on September 25, last year, at Napier Road, Merchiston, where houses can carry a price tag of more than pounds 1million.
Mrs Kinder told the trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court she had been blocked by Dr McCallum as she tried to reverse into her driveway.
She said she sounded her horn countless times but Dr McCallum refused to move.
Mrs Kinder said: "I saw my husband coming out because he heard the horn.
"I was extremely worried for his safety because he was on heavy medication because he has cancer."
Mrs Kinder said she was worried Dr McCallum might try to hit her husband.
She said Mrs McCallum then came out and tried to open the driver's door.
Mrs Kinder said: "I was trying to pull it shut but I couldn't get it shut. It was like a wild animal.
"She looked out of control. I was really frightened."
Mrs Kinder said relations between the two families had not been good.
The trial is set to continue next month.
