DNR OFFERS GUIDED TOURS OF WOODARD BAY CONSERVATION AREA; RESERVATIONS
NEEDED FOR TOURS SCHEDULED EVERY FRIDAY, SATURDAY DURING SUMMER
OLYMPIA, Wash., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Guided tours of Woodard Bay Natural Resources Conservation Area for groups of up to 10 people can be scheduled for 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced today. Managed by the Department of Natural Resources, the 500-acre site in Thurston County -- formerly an industrialized logging dump -- is being restored to its original forest and shoreline environment.
Approximately 39 species of water fowl, Great Blue Heron, more than 1,000 bats and hundreds of harbor seals visit the site or make it their permanent home. The DNR tours also highlight the area's Native American history.
For tour reservations or more information, call DNR's Central Regional office in Chehalis at 206-753-3410 or 206-748-2382.
