DNC Chairman McAuliffe Announces 2004 Democratic National Convention Site Advisory Committee.

WASHINGTON -- Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Terence R. McAuliffe today announced the members of the 2004 Democratic National Convention Site Advisory Committee. Joe Andrew, former DNC Chairman, and Alice Huffman, President of the California State Conference of the NAACP, will serve as committee co-chairs.

The appointment of the site advisory committee members by the DNC chairman is the next step in the Democrats' process to select a host city for the 2004 convention. Committee members will review city proposals as well as conduct on-site visits and report to the chairman their observations and recommendations.

"In making our decision to select the best city to host the 2004 Convention, I sought experience and leadership," said DNC Chairman McAuliffe. "I'm proud to say this committee reflects great talent in both of these areas."

Preliminary General Requirements were distributed last fall. A number of cities have responded with an enthusiastic level of interest. We expect these steps to be completed at the end of February when the formal request for proposal (RFP) will be provided to interested cities. We plan to announce the host city by fall of 2002.
