 DNAP DIAGNOSTICS NAMES LUDMERER CHAIRMAN, CEO
 CINNAMINSON, N.J., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- DNA Plant Technology


Corporation (NASDAQ: DNAP) today announced the appointment of Steven L. Ludmerer to the position of chairman and chief executive officer of DNAP Diagnostics, Inc. DNAP Diagnostics is general partner of Agri- Diagnostics Associates, DNA Plant Technology's joint venture with Union Carbide, which is developing and commercializing rapid, easy-to-use detection systems for crop diseases, pesticide residues and environmental contaminants. DNAP Diagnostics is also managing development of new technologies such as BINDTM, an ice nucleation-based system for rapid detection of Salmonella in food.
 Ludmerer joins DNAP from Union Carbide Chemicals and Plastics Company where he served as director of new business development from 1989 to the present. Prior to joining Union Carbide, Ludmerer spent 24 years with E.I. duPont de Nemours and Company, starting in research and subsequently holding positions in corporate planning, international marketing, business development and business management. From 1987 to 1989 he served as manager of safety and environmental services, and from that position helped direct DuPont's commercial thrust into environmental services. He also played key management roles in the development of Teflon II and the Reach toothbrush.

 A graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in chemical engineering, Ludmerer received his M.B.A. from Drexel University. He also completed the business executive program at the University of Virginia.
 DNAP is a leading agricultural biotechnology company, applying a spectrum of technologies to develop and commercialize plant-based products, agricultural and environmental diagnostics, and ice modification products and processes for industrial and consumer markets. The company has three operating joint ventures -- FreshWorld, InterMountain Canola Company, and Agri-Diagnostics Associates.
