DMX FOR BUSINESS ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF DIRECT BROADCAST SATELLITE SYSTEM

CHICAGO, May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Music Express(R) (DMX) for Business, today announced plans to enhance its newly formed strategic marketing alliance with Bose Corporation by delivering DMX via Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS). Previously available only to commercial customers served by cable, the state-of-the-art DBS system, which utilizes a small, affordable satellite dish will be available to businesses nationwide in fall 1993.
DMX for Business, the nation's pioneer in commercial digital audio programming has expanded its reach by an estimated 7.5 million businesses across the country. Critical to the company's expansion plans, DBS will enable DMX to easily service multiple account locations.
The music service features CD-standard stereo music on 30 distinct music programs, ranging from Lite Classical to Hottest Hits, Country to Latin and Lite Jazz to Adult Contemporary. The programming service has announced it will expand to at least 60 channels this fall.
"Finally there is a positive new alternative for businesses that have until now had to settle for the outdated systems and uninspired `elevator music' offered by competing services," noted Commercial Division President Lon Troxel. "With DBS, DMX is now available to help millions of new businesses improve their business environment."
The satellite dish, measuring only 29 inches in diameter, receives a digital signal from a high-power KU-band satellite transmitted from a DMX uplink in New Jersey. The satellite dish is linked by coaxial cable to the DMX receiver, which in turn is hooked up to the customer's sound system.
Customers can select among a wide variety of music programs to customize their DMX service. For maximum flexibility they can make selections onsite or, for added convenience, opt to have them controlled from the New Jersey uplink.
DMX for Business is currently delivered via cable to more than 5,000 commercial establishments, including restaurants, healthcare facilities, retail fashion outlets, sports arenas and professional offices.
DMX and Bose Corporation, the world's largest loudspeaker manufacturer, recently announced that they will jointly market DMX for Business to national accounts. This strategic alliance ensures that DMX commercial customers can not only count on expert help in selecting the music programs or complete sound systems best suited to their needs, but can rely on DMX and Bose for continuing customer service and support.
Bose, based in Framingham, Mass., produces the best-selling loudspeaker systems in the United States, Europe, Japan, Canada and Australia.
Los Angeles-based International Cablecasting Technologies Inc., parent company of DMX, trades on the NASDAQ National Market System as TUNE, and provides digital audio programming, technology and marketing services for residential and commercial markets.
