Summary: The Building Department of Dubai Municipality has formed a special committee to ensure the conformity of hotel and apartment buildings with their original approved plans, Jabir Ahmed Abdullah, head of buildings inspection section at the municipality said.

The Building Department of Dubai Municipality has formed a special committee to ensure the conformity of hotel and apartment buildings with their original approved plans, Jabir Ahmed Abdullah, head of buildings inspection section at the municipality said.

The move that follows the directives by Hussain Nassir Lootah, Director-General of the municipality, aims at ensuring the safety of buildings, inhabitants and preservation of the approved building regulations as well as the aesthetic view of the Emirate of Dubai.

According to Jabir, number of hotel buildings in the emirate totalled to 599 in 2012 and the committee has played a big role in correcting the violations of 92 hotels during the same period, as such violations adversely impact the safety of dwellers and services provided to them. --
