DJ CHRIS'S NEW CAR MIGHT BE 50 YEARS OLD BUT IT'S IN GREAT NICK.

It might not be everyone's it might not be everyone's idea of a showstopper but idea of a showstopper but as soon as radio as soon as radio presenter and petrolhead Chris Evans saw this car, he was smitten.

The 1964 Daimler SP250 Dart police car with the police warning sign still fixed to the rear appealed to the car nut in him.

The Radio Two DJ paid PS45,000 for the car at auction in Weybridge, Surrey – and he reckoned his kids would love it. He said: "I'm just completely taken with the SP250 Dart police car. It was so lovingly cared for by the previous owner who enthusiastically prepared a stunning history record of the vehicle.

"Working (and secret!) blues and twos, period police radio and the remote bumper bell. Yes, it has an actual ringing police bell.

"The kids love it, the big kids love it even more. It's a design classic and surely the coolest road traffic car the police have ever employed."
