 DIVERSIFIED HEALTH SERVICES JOINS
VOLUNTARY HOSPITALS OF AMERICA LONG TERM CARE
PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Diversified Health Services (DHS), a Plymouth Meeting nursing home management firm owned by the Crozer-Keystone Health System in Media, Pa., has become an affiliate of Voluntary Hospitals of America (VHA) Long Term Care in Memphis, Tenn.
VHA Long Term Care is the exclusive licensee to provide long-term care services to the 860 hospitals in the Voluntary Hospitals of America alliance.
In the agreement, Crozer-Keystone Health System exchanged all of its privately held, for-profit stock in DHS for a minority equity in VHA Long Term Care. The equity position will ultimately be determined by the operating performance of DHS over the next five years.
The affiliation will enable the two firms, which will continue to operate independently, to expand their service delivery areas and product lines. DHS, which currently manages more than 7,000 nursing home beds in five states, will now take its expertise in the management of hospital-based skilled nursing units and government-owned nursing facilities nationwide, according to James J. Goodrich, president of DHS.
DHS will continue to manage the seven nursing facilities owned by Crozer-Keystone. These facilities include: Belvedere Nursing and Convalescent Center (in Chester, Pa.), Chapel Manor (in Philadelphia), Chippenham Manor (in Richmond, Va.), Crestwood Nursing Home (in Whippany, N.J.), Harston Hall (in Erdenheim, Pa.), Pennsburg Manor (in Pennsburg, Pa.), Willow Lake (in Willow Grove, Pa.) and Talbot Place (in Hummelstown, Pa.).
Richard D. Thomas, executive vice president of Crozer-Keystone Health System, has been appointed as chairman of VHA Long Term Care board of directors. Goodrich, who has been with DHS since 1986, has become president of DHS. Thomas J. Vizarcaro has been named executive vice president. Cosmo P. Morabito and Truman F. Painton have been named regional vice presidents, and Joe B. Hoban has become vice president of marketing.
DHS, a Pennsylvania Business Trust established in 1982, provides a full range of long-term care management services including fiscal management, marketing, development and quality assurance.
