DISTRIBUTION NETWORK FORMED FOR UNION CARBIDE GAS-TREATING PRODUCTS

DANBURY, Conn., July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Union Carbide Corporation today announced development of a new, comprehensive distributor network for its broad line of formulated high-performance products for the gas treating industry. In the network are Van Waters and Rogers, with nationwide distribution, and Weskem-Hall, Inc., with regional concentration in states with substantial gas treating activity.
Sara J. Gormley, Union Carbide's gas treating business manager, said the two firms were selected on the basis of their demonstrated strengths in the industry. They have agreed to distribute Union Carbide's UCARSOL gas treating products in support of the company's continuing technical and analytical services to customers.
Union Carbide has been in the forefront of gas-treating technology for more than 60 years. The products used in its service business for refineries and gas processing plants are high-performance solvents and additives for selective removal of contaminants from process gas streams. "UCARSOL Solvents provide substantial cost savings and performance enhancements to gas and oil processors and refiners," Ms. Gormley said. They selectively absorb such contaminating gases as CO2, H2S, COS and mercaptans from a variety of natural and synthesis gas systems, she explained. They, along with other high-performance Union Carbide products, are used also to fight system corrosion and remove heat-stable salts.
Ms. Gormley added, "The new network arrangement demonstrates Union Carbide's dedication to maintaining a leadership role in gas treating technology by providing outstanding support for its specialized products and services."
