DISEASE DETECTION INTERNATIONAL NAMED IN COMPLAINT
IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The following is being issued

by Disease Detection International Inc.:
Disease Detection International Inc. (DDI) (Symbol: DDII) announced that it and its president, H. Thad Morris, have been named in a civil proceeding by an individual, Daniel J. Treirweiler of Michigan. The complaint contains 37 causes of action against a wide variety of 28 defendants, of which only one cause of action pertains to the company and its president. That cause alleges that the company and its president failed to advise the plaintiff that certain verbal statements made to the plaintiff in early 1989 were material misstatements or omitted to disclose material facts. The company and Morris deny any wrongdoing and contend that all information disclosed to Treirweiler by them was adequate and appropriate. The company and Morris intend to deny the material allegations of the complaint and to contest these proceedings.
The company experienced a dramatic downturn in its financial strength in mid-1990 due to the bankruptcy of its then largest customer, Access Medical Systems Inc., of Branford, Conn. Access was DDI's first exclusive distributor to the physician's office market for the United States. Subsequent to the bankruptcy of Access Medical Systems Inc., DDI has sought to replace that customer with alternate distribution sources. The company has executed several smaller distribution agreements, all of which have not provided sufficient revenues to generate a positive cash flow. In addition, the company is seeking additional capital through a private placement.
Disease Detection International Inc. is a company which develops and manufactures medical rapid diagnostic test kits for infectious and sexually transmitted diseases and other human conditions. To date, the company has received FDA 510(k) approval of seven tests.
